How to Boost Your Organic Click Through Rates

Getting onto the first page of Google is tough. There are thousands, if not millions of pages competing for those first few positions. Once you’re there, you need to make sure your link is the one people click on.

How do you do that? Simple. Optimise your title tag/headline to encourage clicks.

Here are some excellent tips for doing that, and choosing which pages to target, by Larry Kim from WordStream and Brian Dean from Backlinko.

The SEO Alphabet (a Really Useful Infographic)

SEO remains a mystery for many people who aren’t involved with it every day.

If you work in the internet marketing industry, you’ll be familiar with the glazed expression that appears on people’s faces when you start talking about Google penalties (until they’re the victim, of course), nofollow links and meta description tags.

But if you’re on the other side of the fence and you’ve just started taking a keen interest in SEO and all that comes with it, you’ll probably appreciate the infographic we’ve just published in a new blog post.

It runs through each letter of the alphabet and lists SEO terminology related to each letter.

A=Anchor text, B=Backlink, C=Content.

You get the idea.

It’s aimed at the newbie, so it that’s you, take a look.

No Google Toolbar PageRank Update for 2013 – Confirmed!

It’s been 8 months since Google last updated the little green PageRank bar we see on its official toolbar for Internet Explorer and unofficial extensions and add-ons for Chrome, Firefox etc. This week, however, there seems further proof that toolbar PageRank is coming to and end.

On Twitter, Niels Bosch asked Matt Cutts if there will be a PageRank update before the end of the year.

Matt Cutts replied saying “I would be surprised if that happened.”

A little while later Matt Cutts published this video, which is in response to a similar question from Dileep.

All of this doesn’t mean that PageRank is dead. It just means that we won’t know the PageRank of any given page. Google still uses PageRank to help it rank pages, and it adjusts the metrics internally every day.
